2018/2019 Team Ambassador Nomination Process
Deadline is March 2nd – Notifications by March 6th
FIRST LEGO League Team Ambassadors needed!
You might remember – or not – but the rookie year of FIRST LEGO League is really hard for a lot of our teams. In order to address this, we are piloting here in Northern California a new Ambassador program to have some of our experienced FIRST LEGO League teams to step up to help our rising FIRST LEGO League Jr (FLLJr) teams come into FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program more successfully.
Specifically we are looking for experienced FLL teams to be mentors for 1 or 2 FLLJr teams between now and May to help the FLLJr team participate in an INTO ORBIT competition. Each FLLJr team (and FLL Ambassador team) will then be invited to participate in a 1 day competition at Maker Faire in May 17-19. In addition, we will be creating a community of the FLL Ambassador teams that will be offered opportunities to represent the program over the 2019/2020 season.
Beyond the goodness of helping the FIRST community, each FLL Ambassador team will receive a custom FIRST Ambassador patch for each participating team member and coach along with a certificate of appreciation. We are looking at additional recognition and open to your ideas on this.
Your nominations / comments / questions should be emailed to flljr@playingatlearning.org .
- Required Elements:
- 1) A short essay written by the FLL team members answering questions how they have specifically demonstrated the FIRST Core Values in team meetings, outside their team meetings and/or at any FLL Tournaments (if they attended one or more) and what it would mean to them personally to be a FIRST LEGO League Ambassador.
2) Statement of commitment by at least 1 Team Coach to support the FLL Team to mentor the FLLJr team members but also to be a resource for the FLLJr team coach going into the 2019/2020 season.
3) Statement of commitment for the ability for at least 3 FLL Team members and 1 FLL Coach to be available to meet face to face with at least 1 FLLJr team “close by” 1 time/week for at least 1.5 hours between March 7 and May 16. [Note: We may need to do some virtual meetups depending on geographical challenges.]
