A few last minute pieces of information – we have received many phone calls and emails about these items.  (Most were covered in the “Preparing your team for a tournament” webinar).

  1. The QT directors have their team lists and should either have already sent or shortly will be sending out a welcome message to your team contact and/or coach. Team name changes are very problematic at this point.
  2. IMPORTANT Reminder: Each team must bring a copy of their team’s latest FIRST Team Roster to turn in at Team Registration (and if needed, bring a copy of any additional Forms)
  3. NEW :  The NorCal Region overall will be advancing 3 slots for each of the 16 team tournaments and 2 slots for each of the 12 team tournaments.
  4. We do ask the Judging Crew at each Qualifier Tournament to select 1 additional (unannounced) wait list team to invite to a Championship, if space opens up.
  5. We have a 2 tier tournament system here: Qualifiers & Championships.  The way to be invited to a Championship is based on the team’s overall evaluation as well as robot game performance at a qualifier.   Each qualifier only advances teams into their specific District Championship.  [and no, the dates are not known yet]
  6. The NorCal Region does not use the Core Values poster but does use a FIRST-recommended short, icebreaker activity called a “Teamwork Activity” during the first few minutes of a team’s Core Values Judging session.
  7. The NorCal Region does not use the Robot Design Executive Summary but a team can bring in extra items to the Robot Design Judging session to demonstrate their programming  (print out is great), their innovation through the season and their strategy.
  8. It is important for teams to keep up with the published Project (10/24) Updates & Game (10/21) Updates .
  9. Each Qualifier will hand out the following team awards:  1st Champions’,  1st Project, 1st Robot Design,  1st Core Values,  1st Robot Performance.  Optionally, the judges may select a team for a special recognition Judges’ Award.
  10. If you did not review these when you completed tournament registration, I would strongly recommend reviewing the NorCal FLL Official Policies, particularly the Pit Practice Table Policy.

Now, for my favorite FIRST LEGO League Core Value:  We Have Fun!

‘Twas the night before competition…   (with a nod to Mr. Moore’s poem):
