NorCal FLL Region : 4 District Championships
As you know, we are dividing our large region into 4 districts this year – each with their own Championship tournament. After much discussion about the best way to do this, the planning group has decided on the following districts (and names) for this year.
Silicon Valley district includes San Jose, Sunnyvale, Saratoga, Santa Clara, Los Gatos, Campbell, Morgan Hill, plus Santa Cruz and Monterey counties
Peninsula district includes Cupertino, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mt. View plus San Mateo and San Francisco counties
East Bay district includes Milpitas, plus Contra Costa county & Alameda county minus Livermore
Capital district includes Livermore plus the following counties that have teams this year: Butte, Calaveras, El Dorado, Humboldt, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Shasta, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus.
Teams are assigned to a specific set of qualifiers and a championship in a specific district based on their location. To keep the championship sizes balanced as much as possible, changing districts is highly discouraged and may be allowed but not until all competing teams are taken care of – we will have to evaluate on a case by case basis.
Eligible teams (those who have sent in the necessary paperwork and paid the qualifier tournament fee) will have options within their district to choose from multiple qualifying events over a variety of dates and locations. Check your Team’s Eligibility Status.
Each team may compete at only one qualifying event. All qualifiers feed to one specific district championship.
If your team is not planning on competing at a tournament in the Northern California region this year, please let us know, otherwise, starting in early October, I will start trying to reach you to confirm one way or the other.
